airport app design
creating a user-friendly interface for air flights.project details/interest
As apart of my final project in Typography 2 class with Reneé Seward Nettle, we were tasked to create an app designated for an iPhone 14 that would aid users in airport flights and departures. There was a heavy emphasis on legibility and ease of use for users of this app.
I first began this project by putting limitations on what I could do
with the text (for example, I can make the body text 12pt size but I'm
not allowed to make any of the text bold or italicized, or make the text
anymore smaller and bigger than it already is). Over time though, I
begin to put less restrictions onto my designs.
These several iterations show my experimentation and how I was evaluating out the overall layout of the prospective app.
iterations/process
color choosing process, typeface choice, drafting
I received a lot of feedback from peers regarding the color palette I initially chose. While the colors I chose were visually appealing and unique, the saturation of the red and green was an eyesore a bit harsh for some individuals to read. I also received critiques on the layout, specifically how certain "buttons" would function if my design were to be turned into a functional app. There were also points made towards the typographic hierarchy in my original draft that I did not notice initially and confusion over the general interface.
